Tuesday Cruiseday: Playing Around With Toys And Yoda

Hmmm, make fun of us we will!

When it comes to the industry most reliable vehicle in almost every mechanic and consumer rating nobody makes more fun of themselves than toyota. Whether it was the initial misspelling to Toyoda instead of Toyota or we must with German grammar speak Toyota gives itself the greatest level of unseriousness in all vehicles. Granted this only relates to those sold in America, but any brand of car that isn’t afraid of calling its trucks turds definitely has a sense of humor.

In case you wanted to justify their ignorance in 1957 they came up with Toyota Racing Development, which is an English acronym. Even beyond that in 1976 it was commented on by a racer how toyota’s name sounded like a turd, but they kept producing these despite the hilarity. Toyota has embraced that they are the most reliable car you can drive and not much else. Their claim to fame is safety and reliability, which they keep to regardless of trends as they are more than willing to follow trend setting companies to produce a vehicle that consumers know will run as long as regular maintenance is performed. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the motto safety, humor, and reliability; however, they might not do that based upon enough acronyms in their toolkit and people would run with, “SHR a toy yoda you must get hmmm?”

All that being said you really have to appreciate any company that sets a priority on consumer return over increasing their bottom line. That is something toyota has set such a priority on that they even outperform their luxury line of Lexus in safety and reliability. I would recommend having one for the purposes of knowing one vehicle you will have that can always run even if you show up in a lunch box.
